One unit between two currencies
Eddycoin (ticker EDDY) is an experimental concept for a currency that sits between two parties and their home currencies – in the spirit of a "euro-dollar". This page explains the idea; the sandbox lets you try it with simulated balances and a simulated exchange rate.
The idea
Party A holds EUR
For example a person or business whose costs and income are in euro.
Party B holds CZK
A counterparty whose home currency is the Czech koruna (any pair would work – EUR/CZK is just the demo example).
EDDY sits in the middle
One EDDY is defined as a fixed basket of both currencies, so its value lies halfway between them. Neither side carries the full currency move alone.
How the rate works in the demo
1. Simulated EUR/CZK rate
The sandbox starts at a reference rate of 25.0000 CZK per EUR and then moves it with a small random walk every few seconds (roughly ±0.05 % per step, kept within 22–28). This is not live market data.
2. EDDY = basket of the pair
At genesis, 1 EDDY was set equal to half a euro plus half a euro's worth of koruna. Those quantities stay fixed:
If EUR/CZK moves by +1 %, EDDY moves by about +0.5 % against CZK and −0.5 % against EUR – it is the midpoint of the pair.
3. Exchange between the parties
Each party can convert between EUR, CZK and EDDY at the current simulated rate, and send any of the three to the other party. A small simulated fee (0.20 % on conversions) goes to a sandbox fee pool, so you can see how costs would accumulate.
4. Exact accounting
All balances are stored as whole minor units (euro cents, hellers, EDDY hundredths) and converted with integer arithmetic, so there are no floating-point rounding errors. Everything is kept only in your browser (localStorage) and can be reset at any time.
Emission: how new EDDY are created
Planned schedule for the new Eddycoin chain ("Compromise" emission). The new chain is not live yet, and the final parameters are still being verified. The testnet running today uses an earlier test schedule (see the end of this section).
The basics
- Maximum supply: 900,000,000 EDDY. The cap is fixed and will never be increased.
- No premine, no faucet. Nobody gets coins for free at the start. Every EDDY has to be mined.
- Coins are created only by finalized checkpoints. A Y checkpoint is finalized when one CPU block (E-Chain) and one GPU block (D-Chain) are found for it. Its reward is split equally: 50 % to the CPU miner and 50 % to the GPU miner.
- Smooth decline, no halvings. The reward per checkpoint gets a little smaller step by step. There are no sudden drops where the reward is cut in half overnight.
Planned milestones
| After | Mined in total | Share of 900 M |
|---|---|---|
| 1 year | ≈ 148 million EDDY | 16.5 % |
| 14 years | ≈ 777 million EDDY | 86.3 % |
| 20 years | ≈ 817 million EDDY | 90.8 % |
| 50 years | ≈ 856 million EDDY | 95.1 % |
| 100 years | ≈ 878 million EDDY | 97.6 % |
| 120 years | ≈ 884 million EDDY | 98.2 % |
Most coins are mined in the first two decades. After that, a long, slowly shrinking tail continues for well over 100 years, so a part of the supply is always left for miners who join later.
You can join in any year
There is no closing date. Anyone can start mining in any year, with a CPU, a GPU or both.
Hardware keeps getting better. Every year there are faster processors and stronger graphics cards. Someone who joins later with newer hardware can do more work per second than a miner still running older equipment, so the early miners' head start shrinks over time.
Early miners do get a temporary head start: the reward per checkpoint is higher in the first years. It is not a permanent advantage, and the rules are the same for everyone, whenever they join.
What your reward depends on
Your reward depends on your share of the network's total hashrate. Difficulty adjusts to all miners together: when more hash power joins, each block gets harder to find, so the issuance stays on schedule. Mining costs electricity and hardware. Nothing here promises a profit, a price, a value or equal earnings for every miner.
Precise rules
EDDY has 8 decimal places. All reward calculations use whole numbers of the smallest unit (0.00000001 EDDY), and every node, miner and verifier computes them the same way. The total can never go above 900,000,000 EDDY.
Current testnet (for comparison)
The testnet running today still uses an earlier test schedule: 149.85005307 EDDY per checkpoint at the start, about 16.1 % of the supply in year one and the full 900,000,000 reached at about year 100. The chart shows that test schedule, not the planned one above. The new chain will start from its own fresh genesis.
Longer-term technical direction
A separate draft specification, "EDDY – Complete Triple-Chain Technical Architecture, v1.0", describes a possible future network design:
- E-Chain (Euro chain) – CPU-oriented proof-of-work (RandomX).
- D-Chain (Dollar chain) – GPU-oriented proof-of-work (ETChash).
- Y-Chain (EDDY chain) – the shared ledger of balances and transfers, finalized by checkpoints that reference work from both mining chains.
That design is a proposal only: it is not implemented and not audited, and many critical questions (fork choice, checkpoint finalization, comparing CPU and GPU work) are still open. The sandbox includes a tiny visual simulation of the three chains using a simple SHA-256 stand-in; it does not run RandomX or ETChash and has no network.

- EDDY is not a financial product, not an investment and not an offer of securities or any other financial instrument. Nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice.
- The exchange rate shown in the demo is simulated and is not market data. No value, price stability or return of any kind is promised or implied.
- No security claims are made. The architecture is experimental and has not been reviewed or audited.
